It was developed with input from every UK water company, so the training is consistent and recognised nationally.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis two-day Level 2 Award combines entrant and entry controller (formerly “top person”) training for medium risk confined spaces, in line with the National Occupational Standards. It covers NC2 spaces, with vertical unobstructed access and continuous attachment to a man-riding hoist or similar rescue device, and NC3 spaces, where people cannot stay attached to a safety line and a team moves away from the entry point, such as man-entry sewers, service tunnels, aqueducts and complex wet wells.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDelegates gain a thorough understanding of the law, safe systems of work and confined space risk assessments, and are trained to use emergency escape breathing sets. Practical work includes entering a designated confined space and crawling through tunnels of different shapes and sizes under simulated emergency conditions, including noise, low light and smoke. The course does not qualify delegates to use full breathing apparatus.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eWho Is It For?\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAnyone working in, or training to work in, medium risk confined spaces, including people entering the water industry.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDelegates must be medically fit, aged 18 or over, and bring photo ID (a valid UK driving licence, passport or CSCS card).
