Keep a record of what you have taken, because the responsibility for avoiding a repeat is yours.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eExcess hours do not carry over.\u003c\/strong\u003e Unlike most states, anything above the 15 or 30 hours is simply lost at the end of the term.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eMandatory Topics Since April 2022 — P\u0026amp;C Has Extra Ones\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLicensees renewing on or after 1 April 2022 must include specific subjects within their hours: at least 1 hour of insurance law, 1 hour of ethics and professionalism, and 1 hour of diversity, inclusion and elimination of bias. Property and casualty licensees must add at least 1 hour of flood insurance instruction, and anyone selling flood through the NFIP must complete 3 hours of enhanced flood instruction.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eThe Flood Course Does Not Bridge\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is the detail most likely to cost you. Bridge courses normally let a dually licensed producer satisfy both lines with a single 15 hours — but under the 2022 change, bridge courses no longer satisfy the enhanced flood requirement. If you sell flood through the NFIP, the 3-hour Enhanced Flood course must be taken as a standalone in addition, whatever else you have completed.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eRenewal, Deadlines and Reporting\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLicences run two years and expire on your birth date, in odd or even years according to your birth year. Public adjusters are the exception, expiring 31 December in even-numbered years. Exams are closed-book, 70% to pass, unlimited retakes. Credits must be reported within 30 days of completion with your full licence number.
