About Highfield Qualifications
Highfield e-learning is a UK based training group focused on work-based learning and training. Back in 1982, when the company was founded, new industries (and old) were rapidly growing and regulation relating to health and safety in the UK was also expanding. Traditional education was largely focused on academic achievement and there were very few qualifications that provided benchmarks in the workplace. Standards of training varied across all industries and Highfield were one of the earliest companies to identify a market for work related training.
Highfield’s first training publication was the Food Hygiene Handbook. Food safety and public health had patchy regulation in the past but throughout the 1980s this regulation became tighter. The need for a standard approach across an industry that was extremely broad was needed and companies like Highfield were at the forefront of establishing practical work-based training that complied to the legislative requirements of the day.
Highfield Qualifications has become a leader in work-based learning in the years since it was established. Vocational education can now be found in the form of NVQs and apprenticeships but Highfield Qualifications pioneered workplace training prior to this. Since the early days, Highfield has expanded and now their courses are recognised globally for their quality, relevance and high standards. Today, of course, technology has created a simpler way for everybody to access information, training and educational resources. Highfield training lead in the area of online health and safety course and work related qualifications and established their e-learning division in 1999, again, taking the lead in this new sector. They offer an extensive range of qualifications, many of which can be taken online.
Highfield training standards have long been recognised and the UK’s qualification regulator, Ofqual regulates Highfield as do Qualifications Wales, the SQA Accreditation, The Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) and the Security Industry Authority (SIA).
Highfield Qualifications and E-learning offer one of the most extensive range of work-related training curriculums and have expanded from their original focus on food safety to cover many more areas of health and safety training. Highfield e-learning courses are suitable for many employees in a range of industries and can also be valuable qualifications for the self-employed in a range of sectors.
