CITB SMSTS Course in Hull, East Yorkshire
This five-day CITB Site management safety training scheme (SMSTS) course is designed for site managers, agents and persons who are, or are about to be, responsible for planning, organising, monitoring, controlling and administering groups of staff within a construction environment.
The SMSTS course covers all relevant legislation and other aspects which affect safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures, and adequate communication to sustain a health
and safety culture among the workforce. Delivered interactively, the course includes group and individual exercises, discussions and projects.

What Can I Expect to Learn?
The CITB Site Managers course is designed to help site managers to manage health and safety on site in accordance with current legal provisions and within the context of their management role. They will develop an understanding of responsibility and accountability for site health, safety and welfare and understand how to create and manage a site that is safe, efficient, economical, productive and environmentally friendly
What's Covered
At the start of each course, delegates will be provided with their own copy of the mandatory publications: (Construction site management delegate workbook (XA6), Construction site safety – The comprehensive guide (GE700). The course is broken down into 5 learning areas:
- Legal and management
- Health and welfare
- General safety
- High risk activities
- Environment
Examination
Assessment will be by an end of course exam paper, the completion of four core exercises and a trainer review, for which the delegate will need to gain a PASS in all elements of the review. The exam demonstrates to external bodies that the certificate is only awarded to successful delegates following both an assessment and exam. Delegates are expected to participate during the course. This is a five-day course. Delegates are required to complete the full course (37.5 hours) in the correct order to be eligible for certification.
Certification
CITB certification for this course is valid for 5 years.
Prerequisites
The delegate must have a good knowledge of written and spoken English at site management level. Photographic ID and the delegates national insurance number must be provided on the first day of the course.
Additional Information
During your course, you will be asked to complete personal details which will be submitted to Awarding Bodies with your final results for certification. Personal details including CITB Registration number (where applicable), name, home address, date of birth, National Insurance number, telephone and email address.
2020 Training will not divulge personal details or learner data to third parties except to relevant statutory bodies – these are required for certification purposes only.
