CITB SMSTS Refresher Course in Romford, Essex

The CITB SMSTS Refresher course is designed for individuals who currently hold a Site Management Safety Training Scheme certificate and wish to renew it for another five years. This course ensures that participants maintain and update their health and safety knowledge, covering changes in legislation, approved codes of practice, and industry best practices.

Refresh Your SMSTS Certificate

To renew your SMSTS qualification, you must provide a copy of your original five-day course certificate, along with details of the training venue and date if known. Only those who have passed the five-day SMSTS course and can provide evidence are eligible for the two-day refresher course.

Upon completing the SMSTS Refresher training, candidates will be able to:

• Appreciate recent developments in construction legislation, accident causes, costs, and prevention reasons
• Understand the legal system, relevant legislation, Approved Codes of
• Practice, Guidance Notes, Codes of Practice, and Case Law
  
• Conduct risk assessments
  
• Monitor health and safety performance
  
• Understand best practices in managing subcontractors
  
• Disseminate information to operatives and subcontractors
  

Training Assessment

Assessment is continuous through individual and group exercises. Knowledge is tested via a multiple-choice CITB exam paper with 25 questions, including 5 safety-critical questions requiring short written answers. Safety-critical questions are worth 1-3 points each, while multiple-choice questions are worth 1 point each. To pass, delegates must correctly answer all safety-critical questions and achieve a score of 80% (28 out of 35).

Certification

Successful candidates will receive the Site Safety Plus CITB Construction Site Management Safety Training (SMSTS) certificate, valid for five years.

Current and valid CITB SMSTS certificate holders can attend this 2-day refresher course. If the certificate has expired, attendance at the full five-day SMSTS course is required.

Important Information

• Full attendance is required throughout the training.
• Delegates must have a good understanding of written and spoken English. (Translators are not permitted).
• Photographic ID is required for all delegates.
• Written parental consent is required for delegates under 18.
• Failure to provide these on the first day may result in exclusion from the course.

CITB Site Safety Plus Publications / Workbooks

All CITB Site Safety Plus courses include access to Construction Site Skills publications. Depending on the accredited CITB training provider, delegates can take away materials in hard copy, on CD, or online. Confirmation will be provided in the joining instructions after full payment. Check at booking whether current hard copy publications are included in the cost.

For short courses a completion certificate is available at the end of the course. You can screenshot this or print it out to confirm completion of the training.

For accredited courses a certificate will be sent directly to you from the appropriate awarding body.

Once the courses have been completed, a confirmation of results can be saved or printed as evidence. This can then be kept on record as evidence of suitable training.
