Intermediate Fire Risk Assessment Training for Fire Safety Professionals
This ProQual Level 2 Award in Intermediate Fire Risk Assessment qualification is aligned with skills and behaviours outlined in BS 8674 Built Environment - Framework for Competence of Individual Fire Risk Assessors - Code of Practice and designed for those who are required to conduct fire risk assessments in predominantly low-risk buildings, either as an employee or as a consultant.
During this course, candidates will gain a comprehensive understanding of fire risk assessment principles and develop practical skills in conducting fire risk assessments and producing clear and compliant reports. This enables candidates to demonstrate their competency, enhance their career prospects, contribute to a safer workplace, and potentially meet the requirements for a “competent person”.
Course Units
The course is made up of two units:
- Principles of the Foundational Fire Risk Assessment
- Practice of the Foundational Fire Risk Assessment
As with all qualifications delivered by SHE Knows, we have tried to make this as uncomplicated as possible by collecting evidence through a range of methods, including submission of real work completed during your day-to-day job, a professional discussion with your assessor to back up your knowledge, and an observation at your workplace. You will be working with an experienced human assessor (not online platforms or admin staff) who will be there to support you, motivate you, and guide you every step of the way until you succeed.
As part of your assessment, an observation will need to be held in at least one of the workplace activities listed below:
- Understanding how to develop own and other’s knowledge of fire risk assessment
- Conduct a fire risk assessment of a low-risk building
- Communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders while carrying out a fire risk assessment of an intermediate risk building
- Demonstrate appropriate and professional behaviour
This will be carried out either by your assessor or a designated observer.
Qualification Duration
Time scales for completion do vary from person to person, however ProQual estimates that the average time spent on this qualification is 80 hours.
The course fee includes registration, your workbook, assessment, and certification. If you would like to be supported with a site visit from your assessor to carry out your observation, this can be added on for an additional fee. Course prices are all-inclusive, covering everything you need, meaning there are no hidden charges or surprise costs to you or your employer.
You can start at any time. Once you have signed up and we have received your completed registration, you will be issued a work pack via email. Your assessor will then book an induction with you. On your initial contact/induction with your assessor, they will explain evidence gathering and how to understand our workbook and filing systems.
