CITB Site Safety Plus courses are the construction industry's recognised standard for health, safety, and site management training. Available in classroom, online instructor-led, and on-site group formats, these courses help workers, supervisors, managers, and directors meet their legal duties and demonstrate competence on UK construction sites. Whether you are starting out, stepping up to supervision, or leading a site, there is a CITB course matched to your role.

Site Management & Supervision

The two best-known CITB qualifications are the Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) for site managers and the Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) for supervisors and those stepping up to a supervisory role. Both are widely required by principal contractors across the UK.

Refresher Courses

SMSTS and SSSTS certificates are valid for five years. Renew before expiry with the SMSTS Refresher (SMSTS-R) (2 days) or the SSSTS Refresher (SSSTS-R) (1 day) to keep your certification current.

Health & Safety Awareness

New to construction? The CITB Health and Safety Awareness (HSA) one-day course covers the essentials and is a recognised route toward the CSCS Green Labourer Card. For company directors and senior leaders, the Directors' Role for Health and Safety (DRHS) course addresses board-level legal and moral responsibilities.

Temporary Works

Manage temporary works safely with the Temporary Works Coordinator (TWCTC) and Temporary Works Supervisor (TWSTC) courses, with renewal available via the Temporary Works Coordinator Refresher (TWCTC-R).

Specialist Schemes

Specialist CITB schemes include the Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (SEATS) for environmental responsibilities on site, and the Tunnelling Safety Training Scheme (TSTS) for underground works. Most schemes are also available as online instructor-led courses for added flexibility.
