Three ways to train a group
Which one suits you depends on how many people you need trained, how much control you want over the date, and whether taking staff off site is a problem.
Option one
On-site course at your premises
An instructor comes to you. This is what most people mean by in-house training: your team only, your date, no travel time and no overnight stays. Ideal where you have a suitable room and enough people to fill a course.
Works well when:
- You have roughly six or more delegates
- Releasing staff for travel is disruptive
- You want content examples drawn from your own site or sector
- You need training delivered across a shift pattern
Option two
Closed course at a local venue
Still your team only and your date, but held at a training centre or hired venue near you. The answer when your own premises will not work.
Works well when:
- You have no suitable room, or none free for several days
- The course needs specific equipment or practical facilities
- Delegates travel in from more than one location
- You would rather people were away from day-to-day interruptions
Option three
Several places on a scheduled course
Book a block of places on an existing open course. The simplest route for smaller numbers, and often the quickest to arrange.
Works well when:
- You have two to five people to train
- You need someone trained soon rather than on a set date
- Numbers are not enough to justify a whole course
- You want delegates to mix with people from other organisations
Why arrange it through us
We are not tied to one provider
We are an independent training intermediary, not a training provider. We do not deliver or accredit training ourselves, which means we have no reason to steer you towards one particular course or centre. We match your requirement to whichever accredited provider fits it best on date, location and format.
One enquiry instead of seven
Arranging group training yourself usually means contacting several providers, comparing what comes back, and chasing the ones that do not reply. Tell us what you need once and we do that work, then come back with the options that actually match.
Genuine national coverage
With over 300 providers on our books we can usually cover multiple sites, several regions, or a mix of classroom, live online and e-learning under a single arrangement — rather than you holding separate relationships for each.
Built for how companies buy
Written quotes with a reference number, purchase order handling, consolidated invoicing and a named contact. No requirement to pay by card at the point of booking.
How it works
Five steps from enquiry to certificates. Most quotes go out within one working day.
You tell us the requirement
Course, how many people, roughly where, and when you need it done by. The form below covers it. If you are not certain which course your roles actually need, say so and we will help you work it out.
We check availability with suitable providers
We approach accredited providers who deliver that course in your area and confirm what they can genuinely offer. We do not quote against a date until a provider has confirmed it.
You receive a written quote
Itemised, referenced, and exclusive of VAT, showing the accrediting body, duration, what is included and the certification your delegates receive. Something you can forward for approval without having to rewrite it.
We confirm the booking and handle the detail
Joining instructions, delegate lists, venue details, identification requirements and any pre-course work — issued to you in one place rather than arriving piecemeal from different providers.
Training runs, certificates follow
Certification is issued by the accredited provider or awarding body. Tell us your renewal cycle and we will remind you before certificates expire, so the next round is not a scramble.

These tools are free, need no sign-up, and run entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is sent to us. Use them to establish your requirement, then bring the result to the form below and we will quote against it.
Training Matrix Builder
Map roles against the courses they need and set your own renewal intervals. Produces a matrix you can print or keep, and it tells you exactly how many people need which course — which is most of a group quote already.

Work through headcount, hazard level and site circumstances to reach a defensible number of first aiders, and see which level of first aid course each one needs.

Check your projectMore free templates and tools are in our Templates & Tools section. They are assessment aids and general guidance rather than a substitute for your own competent judgement — but they are a far better starting point than a blank spreadsheet.
No suitable date showing? That is worth telling us anyway.
Our website only ever shows dates that providers have actually confirmed — we will not advertise a session that does not exist. So if the course you need has nothing scheduled where and when you want it, that is not the end of the conversation.
Send us the requirement regardless. When we can show a provider that there is real, specific demand — a named course, a headcount, a region, a month — that is often exactly what prompts them to schedule one. Group enquiries carry considerably more weight than a single booking, and a good number of the courses now running started as an enquiry like yours.
There is no cost and no commitment in asking, and we will tell you honestly if it is not going to happen.

Request a group quote
The more you can tell us, the closer the first quote will be. If you have used the training matrix, paste or summarise the result in the last box and we will quote straight from it. If you are unsure about anything, leave it blank or note it at the end — a partial enquiry is far better than none.
Paying for group training
Company buyers rarely have a card to hand at the point of booking, and we do not expect you to.
Quote first
Every group enquiry gets a written, referenced quote before anything is committed. Nothing is booked until you say so.
Purchase orders welcome
Give us your PO number and reference and we will carry it through the quote, the invoice and any correspondence.
Invoiced, not card-only
We can raise an invoice rather than requiring payment at checkout. Places are held provisionally and confirmed once payment is settled, so book with enough lead time for your finance process.
One invoice, many courses
Booking several courses, sites or providers at once? We can consolidate it so your accounts team handles one document instead of six.
Questions we get asked
What is the difference between in-house, on-site and closed courses?
In practice they all describe the same thing and the industry uses them interchangeably. A closed course means the session is exclusively for your organisation rather than open to the public. In-house and on-site training usually mean that closed course is delivered at your own premises. The only real distinction worth making is where it happens: a closed course can run at your site, or at a training centre or hired venue if your premises are not suitable. The certification is identical either way.
How many people do I need for a closed course?
It depends on the course. Some are capped at eight or ten delegates by the awarding body, others allow more. As a rough guide, a closed course starts to make sense from around six delegates, but tell us your numbers and we will tell you honestly whether a closed course or block places on a scheduled one works out better for you.
What do you need from us to run training on our site?
Usually a room large enough for the group with somewhere to display slides, tables and chairs, and access to refreshments and welfare facilities. Practical courses may need additional space or equipment. We will confirm the exact requirements in your quote so there are no surprises on the day.
Is the certificate the same as a public course?
Yes. The course content, assessment and certification are set by the awarding body, not by where it is held. A closed course delivered at your premises by an accredited provider carries exactly the same qualification as the equivalent open course.
Can you split a course across dates to suit our shifts?
Often, yes. Multi-day courses can sometimes run as day release rather than a block week, and some can be arranged around shift patterns. There are limits set by the awarding body on how far a course can be spread, so tell us your constraints and we will find out what is genuinely possible.
We have people across several sites. Can that be handled together?
Yes, and it is one of the better reasons to use an intermediary. Because we work with providers across the UK, we can arrange training in several regions under one enquiry and one invoice, rather than you managing a separate relationship for each location.
We are not sure which courses our roles actually need.
That is a common starting point and a perfectly good enquiry. Tell us the roles and the type of work involved and we will suggest which courses are normally expected, along with typical renewal intervals. It remains your decision as the employer, but you do not have to work it out from a blank page.
How far ahead should we book?
For closed courses, four to six weeks gives the best choice of dates and instructors. Shorter notice is often possible, and for places on scheduled courses it can be much quicker. If you are up against a deadline, say so in your enquiry and we will prioritise it.
Do you charge for arranging it?
No. There is no separate fee for using us and no charge for a quote. Our income comes from the training providers we place bookings with, which is why we can spend time on your requirement without billing you for it.
About Envico
Envico is an independent training intermediary, arranging workplace health, safety and compliance training since 2003. We are not an accredited training provider and we do not deliver or certificate training ourselves. All courses are delivered by accredited providers, and all certification is issued by those providers or by the relevant awarding body.
Quoted prices exclude VAT. Course content, assessment requirements and certificate validity are set by the awarding bodies, and we will confirm the specifics for your chosen course in writing before you commit to anything.
