Instructor-Led Online Legionella Training for Duty Holders & Responsible Persons

This Legionella Risk Management course will ensure that you understand the effects of legionella bacteria on the body and the impact an outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease would have on your business. It covers how to identify and control the risks associated with legionella bacteria and how legislation and codes of practice can support its control.

The one day course is delivered in association with an approved contractor who are members of the Legionella Control Association.

What Will You Gain?

By attending this Legionella Risk Management course, you will understand where legionella bacteria comes from, how people develop Legionnaires’ disease and how it affects their health.

In addition, you will also understand how legislation and codes of practice can support the management of legionella bacteria.

On returning to the workplace, you will know how to write a written scheme of work and how to implement it. You will understand the importance of record keeping and how to carry out regular reviews to ensure that the legionella control measures in place are suitable and sufficient.

Who Should Attend?

This Legionella Risk Management course is ideal for the “responsible person” or “duty holder” and their nominated deputies and will ensure that they have the capability and skills for the confident management of legionella and water hygiene issues.

This includes employers, self-employed people and anyone else in control of a premises, such as landlords and letting agents.

The course is aimed at those with a good working knowledge of hot and cold water systems as the course concentrates on how to produce a robust risk assessment.

Why Is It Important?

Under general health and safety law, as an employer or person in control of a premises, you have health and safety duties and responsibilities to take suitable precautions to prevent or control the risk of exposure to legionella.

The Control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems Approved Code of Practice
(L8) specifically states that people involved in implementing precautionary measures should be adequately trained.

Any water system that has the right environmental conditions could potentially be a source for legionella bacteria growth. No matter how big or small your premises, if you have water systems in your workplace then you have a legal obligation to eliminate or minimise the risk of legionella.
