PASMA Towers for Users Course Delivered on a Saturday in Romford, Essex
Can't spare a weekday? This PASMA Towers for Users course runs on Saturdays at the Romford training centre, so you can gain the same nationally recognised qualification without taking time out of the working week.
Over one day, delegates learn to identify, inspect, assemble, dismantle, move and alter mobile access towers correctly — following the manufacturer's instructions, current regulations and accepted approved methods — and gain an understanding of the legislation covering work at height on this equipment. Under the Working at Height Regulations 2005, only a competent person (or a trainee under competent supervision) may assemble, dismantle or alter a mobile access tower, and a PASMA qualification is the widely accepted proof of that competency across the UK.

Who Will Benefit From this Course?
Anyone responsible for assembling, dismantling, altering, moving or inspecting Mobile Access Towers — particularly those whose weekday schedules make a Saturday session the practical choice.
Learning Objectives
To safely assemble, dismantle, relocate and alter a mobile access tower without risk of injury to yourself or others.
Method & Assessment
A mix of theory instruction and practical sessions, assessed closed-book with an 80% pass mark required in both the theory and practical elements.
Personal Protective Equipment
Delegates need suitable head, foot, eye and glove protection for the practical session — a hard hat, preferably with a chin strap.
Course Content
The syllabus covers the legislation, regulations and guidance affecting work at height with mobile access towers; the PASMA Code of Practice; Product Standard EN 1004:2004; assembling, altering and dismantling towers and low-level equipment using current best practice for fall protection; inspecting completed towers and low-level equipment and completing Tower Inspection Records; and recognising and avoiding the hazards that affect tower use.
Instructor Delegate Ratio
No more than 8 delegates per instructor.
Venue Requirements
The venue provides a classroom for up to 12 delegates plus indoor/outdoor practical areas with at least 6 metres of free height.
Supporting Documents
Every attendee receives a course content and notes booklet along with a current Code of Practice booklet.
Award
Delegates who pass both the theory and practical sessions receive a PASMA PhotoCard and certificate, valid for five years.
Literacy, Fitness & Health
PASMA's Code of Practice requires that tower users can read and fully understand the manufacturer's instruction manual, so literacy and language comprehension matter. Because tower work is physically demanding, users should also be fit and healthy — free of conditions such as impaired sight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, vertigo or balance problems, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence, or psychiatric illness. Any concerns about literacy, language or fitness should be raised with the delegate's employer, who can assess the situation and put adequate measures in place; this need not prevent someone from using mobile access towers.
Qualifications & Experience
No formal qualifications or prior experience are required, though a basic grasp of work at height issues helps.
