Live Virtual Training in Internal Auditing
To achieve or maintain ISO certification, it is critical to understand how well your management system and business processes are performing, and internal auditing plays a large part in that. Done well, internal audits are the key function in identifying an organisation’s issues, threats and opportunities relating to business performance.
This course was developed by Andrew Protheroe (MSc, MSc, CFIOSH, FIoL, CQP MCQI), a Lead Auditor with over nine years of international experience auditing major organisations to ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management, ISO 45001:2018 Health and Safety Management, ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management, ISO 18788:2015 Private Security Operations and ISO 28000:2022 Security.
The training is designed to be both consultative and testing, meaning best practices are shared and learning outcomes must be met.
Learning Objectives
- An understanding of ISO 19011:2018, ISO’s own guide to auditing management systems
- Introduction to management systems standards and the harmonised structure
- Required auditing terms and definitions
- The role of an internal auditor
- Types of audit, risk based auditing and audit frequency
- Audit preparation, planning and writing checklists
- How to conduct the audit, including interviewing, observation and document review
- Audit findings and their categories
- Audit reporting and follow-up, including how to conduct the closing meeting
Course Structure
The course runs to approximately 1.5 days in total:
- Three hours of pre-course self-study and pre-assessment
- A one day workshop delivered via Zoom
Included with the Course
- Access to a custom built Internal Auditing SharePoint site containing information and guidance (a Microsoft account is required)
- A comprehensive documented Integrated Management System (IMS) covering ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
- A zip file of policies, procedures and forms that can be tailored to your own organisation
- One hour of free post-course consultancy with Andrew Protheroe via Zoom
Assessment
- A 30 question written paper, with 28 correct answers required to pass
- A one to one professional discussion with the tutor
Certification
- PCR Global certified course.
- Certification for this course is valid for 5 years.
- Refresher training is recommended every 3 to 5 years.
