Safety Passports for Quarrying, Food & Drink, Petrol Retail and Engineering-Construction
GSS Training is the passport specialist in the catalogue, running five separate schemes from four northern centres — the SPA Food and Drink Passport, the SPA/MPQC Quarry Passport, SPA Petrol Retail, SPA Core Construction and ECITB CCNSG. Each governs access to a different kind of site, and holding all five in one provider is genuinely rare. Most schemes are available live online as well as in the classroom, and every one has a renewal route.
Quarry Passport — SPA/MPQC
The SPA/MPQC Quarry Passport at Bradford, Manchester and Runcorn plus live online, with the renewal at the same three centres and online. Quarries and mineral products sites operate under the Quarries Regulations and require their own passport — a CSCS card or CCNSG will not get you onto a working quarry.
Food and Drink Passport — SPA
The SPA Food and Drink Passport at Bradford, Manchester and Runcorn, and live online, with the renewal available the same four ways. Food and drink manufacturers commonly require contractors to hold this before site access — hygiene, allergen and contamination risks make a general construction card insufficient.
Petrol retail — forecourts and fuel storage
The SPA Core and Petrol Retail Passport runs at Bradford, Manchester and Runcorn plus live online, with the SPA Petrol Retail Passport Renewal at four centres — Bradford, Manchester, Runcorn and Penrith — and online. Forecourt work brings its own hazards: fuel vapour, tank and line integrity, and a public forecourt live around the works. This is the widest petrol retail coverage on the site.
CCNSG Safety Passport — four centres
The ECITB
CCNSG Safety Passport and its renewal at all four centres — Manchester, Bradford, Runcorn and Penrith — plus CCNSG Leading a Team Safely at Manchester for supervisors. CCNSG is required across engineering construction: process plant, power generation and major maintenance. The renewal route closes once the card expires, so the full course becomes necessary again.
SPA Core Construction
SPA Core Construction at Manchester and Runcorn. Core is the base module the other Safety Pass Alliance passports build on, so it is the sensible starting point for a contractor who expects to add sector modules later rather than buying each scheme outright.

Which passport do I actually need?
It follows the site, not the trade. Quarries need the MPQC Quarry Passport. Food and drink manufacturing needs the SPA Food and Drink Passport. Forecourts need petrol retail. Refineries, power stations and process plant need CCNSG. General construction needs CSCS. Contractors working across sectors often hold three or four, and none substitutes for another — check the client's gate requirement before booking, because turning up with the wrong card means being turned away.
Classroom or live online?
Four schemes run
live online with an instructor as well as in the classroom: the Quarry Passport and its renewal, Food and Drink and its renewal, petrol retail, and the Core and Petrol Retail combination. The card issued is the same, so it is a travel decision. CCNSG remains classroom only.
