Course Overview

The CITB Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (SEATS) covers environmental legislation and its impact on the building, construction and civil engineering sectors, giving supervisors the knowledge they need to manage environmental issues on construction sites.

The remote course is delivered via Zoom, follows the same curriculum as the classroom course and is delivered to the same standard.

Who should attend?

Those who have, or are about to take on, supervisory responsibilities. Delegates must be competent in English at site supervisor level.

Course Content

• Supervising and protecting the environment through legal provisions
• Protecting the ecosystem: the relationships between animals, plants, organisms and their environment
• Following environmental management systems and processes to reduce environmental damage
• Reducing statutory nuisance and disturbance to neighbours
• Managing the impact of archaeology and heritage on construction
• Controlling water consumption and reducing the impact of construction on natural water supplies
• Preventing the pollution of watercourses
• Identifying ethically sourced timber through the chain of custody
• Identifying, controlling and managing contamination on brownfield sites
• Classifying, segregating and disposing of waste correctly
