Abrasive Wheels Training Delivered in Canning Town, London
Our Abrasive Wheels course is a classroom-based half day that shows you how to use an abrasive wheel safely and how to inspect the different wheel types you are likely to encounter.
It is designed for anyone who uses abrasive wheels at work, including machine operators and the supervisors and managers responsible for them. You will learn the steps needed to use abrasive wheels safely and legally, which in turn helps reduce accidents and keeps you working within the legislation.
Why Take This Course?
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98) require that anyone using work equipment is properly trained, so this course helps you meet those legal responsibilities. Cutting and grinding wheels carry a real risk of serious injury if the correct procedures are not understood and followed.

Course Objectives
By the end of the course you will have a clearer understanding of the legal requirements around safe use of abrasive wheels. You will be able to identify potential hazards and prevent them, select the correct PPE and safety equipment, and check it properly. You will also know how to change a disc safely and how to spot when one is worn or damaged and needs replacing.
How the Course Is Delivered
This is a classroom course lasting half a day, around three to four hours, combining theory with practical instruction.
Assessment
Your trainer will assess you throughout the course on participation and understanding. You will then sit a twenty-question multiple-choice paper at the end. Successful delegates leave able to use the equipment safely and productively.
Certification
Successful delegates receive an Abrasive Wheels certificate valid for three years. Refresher training is recommended to maintain safety. The training follows PUWER 98 and HSE guidance HSG17.
