Who Should Attend
This course is aimed at site managers, project managers, agents and those progressing into site management roles. It is widely required by principal contractors for management-level site access.
What You Will Learn
- Health and safety legislation and the manager's legal duties
- Risk assessments and safe systems of work
- CDM Regulations and the management of construction projects
- Leadership responsibilities and behavioural safety
- Managing occupational health risks on site
- Monitoring, inspections and accident investigation
Certification
Successful delegates receive a CITB SMSTS certificate, valid for five years. Before your certificate expires you can renew it with the two-day SMSTS Refresher rather than repeating the full course.
Delivery Method
Classroom delivery at our training centre: The Acorn Centre, 29 Roebuck Road, Hainault, Essex, IG6 3TU. Course runs 9:00am to 4:30pm each day across five consecutive days. Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between block booking and day release?
Block booking runs over five consecutive days. Day release spreads the same five days out over a longer period. Both cover the full syllabus and lead to the same qualification.
Do I need SSSTS before doing SMSTS?
No. SSSTS is not a prerequisite, though many delegates come to SMSTS having supervised on site first.
How long is the certificate valid?
Five years from the date of successful completion.
What happens if my certificate has already expired?
If your SMSTS certificate has lapsed you will need to complete the full five-day course again rather than the refresher.
For short courses a completion certificate is available at the end of the course. You can screenshot this or print it out to confirm completion of the training.
For accredited courses a certificate will be sent directly to you from the appropriate awarding body.
