envicourse.com charges training providers no joining fee, no listing fee and no monthly cost. We earn a commission only when a course sells, banded by the price of that course. This page explains what the commission pays for, how each band works and why the bands are set where they are.
The four bands
Each course sits in the band set by its own advertised price, excluding VAT. Your total volume and the number of courses you list don't change the band.
Moving up a band never leaves you worse off. At each boundary your share goes up, not down: a £50 course returns £25 and a £50.01 course returns £35.01, a £100 course returns £70 and a £100.01 course returns £75.01, and a £1,000 course returns £750 and a £1,000.01 course returns £800.01.
What the commission pays for
Commission is our only charge, so it covers everything we do to turn a scheduled date into a paid, confirmed booking:
- Writing, publishing and maintaining a page for every course and location
- Search optimisation, category and location pages, and our newsletter
- Free compliance tools that bring in buyers still working out which course they need
- Marketing to employers searching by course and town
- Checkout, card processing and payment in over 200 countries and territories
- Currency conversion, with the exchange-rate risk carried by us
- Purchase orders and invoicing for buyers who need them
- Joining instructions for most classroom and live online courses
- Handling cancellations, transfers and refunds with the buyer
- Vetting every provider against the awarding body
None of these costs is passed on to you separately. Card fees and currency conversion are never deducted from your share.
Why the lowest band carries the highest rate
Most of the cost of selling a course is the same whatever it costs to buy. A £35 awareness course needs the same page, the same checkout, the same delegate admin and the same customer support as a £450 one. The marketing behind it doesn't get cheaper either.
Google Ads click prices for UK training searches are one way to see this. Reaching a buyer for a low-cost course costs about as much as reaching one for an expensive course:
| Search term | UK searches a month | Average cost per click |
|---|---|---|
| manual handling training | 3,600 | £2.96 |
| fire marshal training | 3,600 | £4.16 |
| asbestos awareness training | 2,900 | £2.95 |
| first aid at work course | 3,600 | £3.06 |
| smsts course | 6,600 | £2.57 |
| nebosh general certificate | 4,400 | £3.27 |
| iosh managing safely | 6,600 | £6.30 |
Source: Semrush UK keyword database, October 2026. Cost per click is what an advertiser pays Google for one visit, before that visitor has booked anything.
A click on "fire marshal training" costs more than a click on "smsts course", even though an SMSTS course costs several times as much. It takes many clicks to win one booking. On a low-priced course, a flat 20% often wouldn't cover the cost of finding the buyer, let alone the card fee and admin. The alternative would be to stop listing low-cost courses altogether. A higher rate on the lowest band keeps those courses worth selling, so buyers can still find them and you can still fill them.
At the other end, a high-value qualification costs little more to sell than a mid-priced course, so the rate falls to 20%.
Why bands are set per course, not by volume
Fair to specialists
A provider running one course in one town gets the same rate on that course as a national provider with hundreds of listings. Nobody is penalised for being small.
Predictable
You know your return on every course before it lists. It doesn't change with how many delegates booked last quarter.
Rechecked when prices change
If you change a course's price, its band is checked again. A course that moves across a boundary moves band with it.
Your price, your call
You set the price. The only condition is that it matches what you charge for that course yourself, so buyers see the same price everywhere.
Moving to the banded rates
Providers who joined from mid-2026 are already on the banded scale. For providers on our earlier flat rate, the banded scale applies to orders placed on or after 1 January 2027. Orders placed before that date settle at your current rate, whenever the course runs. The order date decides the rate, not the course date. If your written agreement with us sets a different rate, that agreement applies. If you are an existing provider and have a question about your rate, call us on 0808 1966 830.
Questions providers ask
Is commission charged on the price including VAT?
No. Bands and commission are both worked out on the advertised price excluding VAT. VAT is added at checkout.
Does a group booking change the band?
No. The band follows the price of the course. Five delegates on a £450 course are each in the 25% band, just like one.
Can I price a course just over a boundary to get a lower rate?
Only if that is genuinely what you charge for it. Prices must match what you sell the course for yourself. Because your share always rises at each boundary, nobody gains by keeping a price artificially low, or high.
When am I paid?
You invoice us for the course price less commission, and we settle your invoice for the delegates we place. You are never invoiced by us for listing or advertising.
How do I apply?
Complete and sign our online provider application. It takes about 15 minutes. List each course with a link to its page on your website, and we build your listings from them once we've checked your accreditations.
Is there anything else to pay?
No. There are no joining, listing, monthly or setup fees and no minimum term. Category sponsorship and priority listing are separate optional extras, and our sister site Raybee lists your non-training services free.
Do the same rates apply on envico-online.com?
From 1 January 2027 your courses are listed across both envicourse.com and envico-online.com at no extra cost, under the same partnership terms.
No cost until a course sells. Applications are reviewed by a person, usually within 24 hours.
