The Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) was developed by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) to set a clear industry standard for health and safety management on construction sites. The SMSTS course is part of the Site Safety Plus (SSP) scheme and covers all relevant legislation.

Who is SMSTS Training Suitable For?

The SMSTS is designed for individuals with responsibility in the construction industry, including site managers, supervisors, proprietors of construction companies, and project managers. Build UK endorses the SMSTS qualification as the standard for all construction and project managers, demonstrating the competence of a construction site manager according to the Approved Code of Practice (ACoP) for the CDM Regulations.

Certification

Upon passing the CITB exam, you will receive a CITB SMSTS certificate, signifying your competence as a construction site manager. The hard-copy certificate will be issued within six to eight weeks and is valid for five years.

Entry Requirements

• Photographic ID
  
• Written parental consent if under eighteen years old
  
• A good understanding of written and spoken English (translators are not permitted)

Refresher Training

Your SMSTS certificate is valid for five years. To maintain your qualification, you must attend a 2-day SMSTS Refresher course.

Progression

After obtaining your SMSTS qualification, consider advancing your studies with the NEBOSH Construction Certificate or a related Construction NVQ

For accredited courses a certificate will be sent directly to you from the appropriate awarding body.
