Fire Safety Awareness Course Online (Instructor-led)

Course Overview

A half-day live online course that gives staff a basic understanding of fire and how to prevent it. It raises awareness of fire prevention, fire precautions and the use of extinguishers so that everyone plays their part in keeping the workplace safe.

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person to make sure employees receive adequate safety training, with the level of training guided by the fire risk assessment.

Delivery Method

Live online training with an SSG instructor, delivered by video conference. You will need a computer with a camera, microphone and a reliable internet connection.

Course Programme

• Fire statistics and well-known examples
• An overview of the relevant legislation
• Fire chemistry: the fire triangle and classes of fire
• Fire prevention, including housekeeping, storage and safe working practices
• Fire precautions, including detection, escape routes, fire drills and extinguishers

The hands-on use of water and foam extinguishers is only included on classroom courses.

Assessment and Certification

Delegates are assessed on their input to the course exercises. Successful delegates receive an SSG attendance certificate, valid for three years.

To join online courses, delegates have to log in via a link provided through a computer or laptop with a camera, screen, microphone and access to the internet.
