Why Is It Important?
Under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, you must carry out a systematic examination of all work activities. This forms an integral part of an effective health and safety management system.
Therefore, it is the employers to ensure that all work activities are planned, implemented and controlled effectively. You must do risk assessments where required. You should also ensure that you regularly monitor and review the risk assessments to ensure continuous control and elimination of any hazards. If you have five or more employees, all risk assessments must be recorded in writing.
An unprotected workforce will result in lost profit due to lost workdays, inflated premiums or court costs.
