IPAF MEWP Operator Blended Learning Course in Birmingham
This course allows delegates to complete the theory part of the IPAF Access Platforms course via an e-learning module. This is completed online, and delegates then attend for a half day to complete practical training. On booking, delegates are issued with a log-in to complete the e-learning module.
Who is the Course For?
Anyone who operates access platforms on site. The e-learning module covers all IPAF MEWP categories, including 1a, 1b, 3a and 3b, and typically takes around three hours to complete depending on your existing knowledge of MEWP operations. If training on additional categories is required, get in touch before booking.
Course Delivery
Blended: the theory module is completed online at your own pace, with progress saved so you can resume at any time. The practical training and assessment take place at the training centre in Birmingham, West Midlands. The e-learning module provides the essential theoretical knowledge but does not replace the mandatory practical training required for full certification.
Course Duration
Around three hours of online e-learning, followed by a minimum of a half-day practical session.

Steps to Certification
- Book the course and receive an email invitation to start the e-learning module
- Complete the online module and the pre-theory test at the end of it
- Once the pre-theory test is passed, book the supervised theory test, practical training and assessment at the training centre
- Attend a minimum of a half-day practical session for hands-on experience and assessment
Completion of the Course
Delegates take a practical assessment. Successful delegates receive a digital certificate and the IPAF Powered Access Licence available on the ePAL app, showing the categories on which they have been trained. The licence is internationally accepted. Digital licences are the default option for new operators; a printed PAL Card and certificate is still available at an additional charge.
