Course Content
The course combines content from all three categories:
- 3a (Scissor Lift / Mobile Vertical): pre-use inspections, safe operation techniques, hazard awareness, and emergency procedures.
- 3b (Boom Lift / Mobile Boom, including cherry pickers): equipment checks, practical operation skills, and risk management.
- 1b (Static / Push-Around Boom with Outriggers): set-up and positioning, outrigger use, stability checks, and ground-level operation.

Assessment
Candidates complete theory and practical operating assessments across all three categories (3a, 3b and 1b).
Certification

How is this different from the IPAF Dual 3a & 3b course?
This course adds the 1b category (static and push-around boom platforms with outriggers, such as spider lifts) to the 3a and 3b categories covered in our standard combined course.
Do I need any prior experience?
No prior experience is required. The course is suitable for new operators as well as those renewing or extending an existing IPAF licence.
How long is the IPAF PAL card valid for?
The IPAF Powered Access Licence (PAL) card is valid for 5 years from the date of issue.
Can this course be delivered at our workplace?
