Pulse Hire

IPAF Powered Access Operator Training in Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Pulse Hire is a dedicated IPAF centre in Wakefield covering the powered access operator categories, including a triple combination that takes in static boom, mobile scissor and mobile boom in one booking. For operators who move between machine types on site, taking the categories together is both cheaper and quicker than returning for each one separately.

IPAF operator categories
All three core IPAF categories at Wakefield: 1b Static Boom for vehicle- and trailer-mounted machines, 3a Mobile Scissor for vertical platforms, and 3b Mobile Boom for articulated and telescopic booms. Available individually, as the standard Dual 3a and 3b, or as a Triple 1b, 3a and 3b.
Dual, triple or single?
The PAL card lists whichever categories you have been assessed on, so the decision is really about what machines you will actually operate. Dual 3a and 3b is the common choice and covers most site work — scissors and cherry pickers. The Triple adds 1b for static booms, which matters if you work with vehicle-mounted or trailer platforms. Taking categories together is cheaper than returning later, but there is no value in certifying on a machine you will never use.
What the training involves
IPAF operator training combines theory with practical assessment on the machine itself, covering pre-use inspection, safe operation, hazard recognition and emergency lowering. The PAL card issued is valid for five years. Browse all working at height courses.
