This course covers the IPAF 3b category: boom lifts and other mobile booms, including cherry pickers and articulated/telescopic booms. Delivered at Pulse Hire's IPAF training centre in Wakefield, it provides the knowledge and practical experience to operate boom lifts safely, efficiently and in compliance with industry standards.

Course Location

This course runs at Pulse Hire's training centre: Unit 1 Benton Office Park, Bennett Ave, Horbury, Wakefield, WF4 5RA, conveniently located near the M1 and M62. On-site training at your own workplace is also available – get in touch to discuss.

Course Content

The course covers the IPAF 3b category, including:

  • Risk Management: understanding potential hazards unique to boom lift operation and strategies to minimise risks.

Course Duration

This is a 1-day course at the Wakefield training centre.

Assessment

Candidates complete a theory test and a practical operating assessment on a boom lift.

Certification

Successful candidates receive the IPAF Powered Access Licence (PAL) card covering the 3b category. The PAL card is valid for 5 years.

This course is ideal if you only need to operate boom lifts and cherry pickers and don't require the scissor lift (3a) category. Training is delivered by qualified instructors at a dedicated powered access training centre.

Do I need any prior experience to take this course?

No prior experience is required. The course is suitable for new operators as well as those renewing or updating an existing IPAF licence.

How long is the IPAF PAL card valid for?

The IPAF Powered Access Licence (PAL) card is valid for 5 years from the date of issue.

Should I take this course or the combined Dual 3a & 3b course?

If you only need to operate boom lifts or cherry pickers, this course is sufficient. If you also need to operate scissor lifts, our combined Dual 3a & 3b course covers both categories in one day.

Can this course be delivered at our workplace?

Yes, on-site training is available at your premises, subject to suitable equipment and facilities. Contact us to arrange.
