Legionella Awareness - Control of Legionella in Water Systems Online (Instructor-led)

Course Overview

A half-day live online course introducing the risk from legionellosis and the controls needed to manage it. Legionellosis is the collective name for the pneumonia-like illnesses caused by legionella bacteria, including the potentially fatal Legionnaires’ disease.

The course follows the Approved Code of Practice L8 (fourth edition) and HSG274 Part 1 technical guidance on water systems.

Who Is It For?

Anyone with responsibilities for controlling legionella, including duty holders, responsible persons and those who carry out tests and keep records. It is particularly useful for people who control premises or manage and monitor the risk of exposure.

Delivery Method

Live online training with an SSG instructor, delivered by video conference. You will need a computer with a camera, microphone and a reliable internet connection.

• The risk from legionellosis and its effect on people
• Identifying and assessing the risk of exposure from work activities and water systems, and the precautions needed
• An overview of the legionella risk assessment process (this course does not train delegates to carry out risk assessments)
• The roles of the duty holder and the appointed responsible person
• The key parts of a written scheme of control
• Keeping records of examinations, tests and repairs
• Duties of designers, manufacturers, importers, suppliers and installers

Assessment and Certification

Successful delegates receive an SSG attendance certificate.
