Barry Training Services focuses on one thing — the ECITB CCNSG Safety Passport — delivered from two South Wales venues at Barry and Baglan. Both sit close to the industrial belt where the passport is needed most: the Port Talbot steelworks, the Baglan energy cluster, and the refineries and process plants along the Severn estuary.
CCNSG Safety Passport
The ECITB
CCNSG Safety Passport at both Barry and Baglan. This is the standard entry requirement for engineering-construction sites — refineries, power stations, chemical and process plants, and major maintenance shutdowns. Most operators will not permit site access without a valid passport, whatever other cards you hold.
Passport renewal
The CCNSG Safety Passport Renewal at both centres. The passport lasts three years and the renewal is a one-day course that must be completed before expiry. Let it lapse and you sit the full two-day course again — and more immediately, you lose site access until it is back in date.
CCNSG or CSCS?
They cover different sectors and neither substitutes for the other. CSCS, underpinned by the CITB HS&E test, covers general construction sites. CCNSG covers engineering-construction — process, petrochemical, power and heavy industrial. Contractors working across both site types commonly need each, particularly in South Wales where industrial and construction work sit side by side.
Covering South Wales
Baglan is practical for Port Talbot, Neath, Swansea, Bridgend and the western valleys. Barry covers Cardiff, Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan and the eastern side, and is within reach of Newport, Bristol and Severnside via the M4.
