CITB Temporary Works and Site Safety Training — Delivered Online
Charles Hutchinson Consulting delivers CITB courses entirely online, with the complete temporary works pathway — Coordinator, Coordinator Refresher and Supervisor — alongside SMSTS and SSSTS. Temporary works competence is required on a great many projects and is often awkward to book locally, so having all three online removes the geography problem entirely.
Temporary works — the full pathway
CITB Temporary Works Coordinator, its refresher, and Temporary Works Supervisor, all live online. Temporary works covers everything supporting permanent construction while it is built — formwork, falsework, propping, excavation support, façade retention. It is a recurring source of serious structural failure, and BS 5975 sets out the coordinator role most principal contractors now require.

SMSTS for site managers and
SSSTS for supervisors, both live online with an instructor. CITB approved remote delivery, so the certificate, card and five-year validity match the classroom version exactly. See all

Coordinator or Supervisor?
The Supervisor course is for people overseeing temporary works on site — confirming that what was designed is what actually gets built. The Coordinator course is for whoever coordinates the process across a project, maintains the register and ensures designs are checked and approved. A project typically appoints one coordinator with supervisors working under them, so the roles complement rather than substitute for one another.
How does live online work?
Instructor-led at a set time with other delegates — not self-paced e-learning. You need a stable connection, a camera and a quiet space, since CITB requires delegates to be visible and participating throughout. The trade-off is a day of travel saved against losing the informal exchange with people from other sites.
