NEBOSH to Level 6 Diploma and SFJ Fire Auditing in Chorley or Online

Compass Skills Training runs one of the deepest NEBOSH classroom ranges in the North West — from short HSE-badged awards through five certificates to the Level 6 National Diploma, taught at Chorley. Alongside it sits an SFJ fire auditing ladder at Levels 3 and 4, available in the classroom or live online, plus the Level 3 Award in Education and Training for people moving into delivering training themselves.

NEBOSH certificates
Five NEBOSH certificates in the classroom at Chorley: the National General Certificate, Health and Safety Management for Construction, the Certificate in Fire Safety, the HSE Certificate in Managing Stress at Work, and the HSE Certificate in Health and Safety Leadership Excellence — the last being for senior people setting culture rather than managing tasks.
NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma — classroom or e-learning
The Level 6 National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals, in the classroom at Chorley or as e-learning. Very few centres deliver the Diploma taught at all, and fewer still alongside the full certificate range. It leads towards Graduate IOSH membership and eventually Chartered status.
SFJ fire auditing — Levels 3 and 4
The SFJ Level 3 Certificate in Fire Safety for Fire Auditors and the Level 4 Certificate for Fire Safety Auditors, both in the classroom at Chorley or live online. These are specialist qualifications for people auditing fire safety arrangements across an organisation — a different job from assessing a single building, and the Level 4 is the enforcement-facing tier. NEBOSH short awards
The NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work Award, Environmental Awareness at Work, the HSE Award in Managing Risks and Risk Assessment at Work, and the HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation. These sit between an awareness session and a full certificate — a practical way to add one specific competence without committing to a long programme.
Level 3 Award in Education and Training
The AET at Chorley — the standard entry qualification for anyone who delivers training, whether that is toolbox talks in-house or teaching as a career. Worth pairing with a safety qualification if you are the person who ends up briefing everyone else: knowing the subject and being able to teach it are separate competencies.
Certificate or Diploma?
The General Certificate is the standard qualification for anyone with real safety responsibility, and where almost everyone should start. The Level 6 Diploma is for people intending to make safety their profession — degree-level work over many months, and what employers require for senior practitioner roles. Do not treat it as the next course after a certificate; treat it as a career decision.
Classroom or e-learning for the Diploma?
Classroom at Chorley gives you a fixed timetable and a tutor, which matters more on a qualification this long — Diploma completion rates by self-study are consistently lower than for taught delivery. E-learning suits people who genuinely cannot attend and who have already proved to themselves they can sustain independent study. Chorley sits on the M61 between Preston and Bolton, so much of Lancashire and Greater Manchester is within a comfortable commute.
