CITB Site Safety Plus and Temporary Works Training in Edinburgh
EHS Training delivers the CITB Site Safety Plus range from Edinburgh, including both temporary works courses — Coordinator and Supervisor. Temporary works competence is required on a wide range of projects and is less commonly available in Scotland than in England, which makes having both levels at an Edinburgh venue genuinely useful for central belt contractors.
Site management and supervision
The five-day CITB
SMSTS and its two-day refresher, plus the two-day
SSSTS. SMSTS is for site managers and agents; SSSTS for supervisors, foremen and gangers. Both certificates last five years. See all
CITB courses.
Temporary works
Both CITB temporary works courses at Edinburgh: Temporary Works Coordinator and Temporary Works Supervisor. Temporary works covers anything supporting permanent construction while it is built — formwork, falsework, propping, excavation support, façade retention. It is a common source of serious structural failure, and BS 5975 sets out the coordinator role that most principal contractors now require.

Coordinator or Supervisor?
The Temporary Works Supervisor course is for people supervising the work on site — checking that what was designed is what gets built. The Coordinator course is for the person coordinating the whole temporary works process on a project, holding the register and ensuring designs are checked and approved. A site typically needs a coordinator appointed and supervisors under them, so the two are complementary rather than alternatives.
