Haswell Training

CITB, Temporary Works and Mental Health Training in Norwich

Haswell Training covers the CITB range from Norwich, with SMSTS and SSSTS available in the classroom or live online, plus both temporary works courses, a full three-level workplace mental health ladder, and standalone HAVS and face fit instructor sessions that few providers run at all. For Norfolk and north Suffolk employers it removes the usual need to travel west for temporary works competence.

CITB site safety — classroom or live online
SMSTS and SSSTS both run in the classroom at Norwich and live online with an instructor, so the choice is yours rather than the provider's. The SMSTS Refresher and SSSTS Refresher are classroom at Norwich. Both refresher routes close once your existing card expires. See all CITB courses.
Temporary works — both roles
CITB Temporary Works Coordinator and Temporary Works Supervisor, both in the classroom at Norwich. Temporary works covers everything supporting permanent construction while it is built — formwork, falsework, propping, excavation support — and BS 5975 sets out the coordinator role most principal contractors now require to be formally appointed. Carrying both roles at one centre is uncommon in the east.
Workplace mental health — three levels
Qualsafe Level 1 Introduction to Mental Health in the Workplace, Level 2 Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace, and Level 3 Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace. A complete ladder rather than a single course, which lets an organisation give the whole workforce awareness at Level 1 and train designated first aiders at Level 3 — the same structure you would use for physical first aid. Browse all mental health courses.
Face fit instructor
A Face Fit Instructor course at Norwich — training the person who will carry out fit testing in-house, rather than buying testing in each time. Tight-fitting RPE only protects if it seals, and the duty to fit test sits with the employer. For a firm with a rotating workforce, having an instructor internally usually pays for itself inside a year.
Hand Arm Vibration
A standalone HAVS course at Norwich. Hand arm vibration syndrome is irreversible once established, and the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations require exposure to be assessed and controlled. Training the people using the tools — and those planning the work — is how exposure actually gets managed rather than merely measured.
First aid
Qualsafe First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work at Norwich. Which you need is decided by your first aid needs assessment rather than by headcount alone — EFAW is one day for lower-hazard workplaces, FAW three days for higher risk or larger sites. Browse all first aid courses.
Fire safety, manual handling and abrasive wheels
Qualsafe Fire Safety at two levels — Level 1 Awareness for general staff and Level 2 for fire marshals — plus Qualsafe Manual Handling (RQF) and Abrasive Wheels theory. The two fire levels do different jobs: awareness covers what everyone should know, Level 2 covers the marshal's role in a sweep and evacuation.
