CITB Site Safety Plus Training in Petersfield and Tadley, Hampshire
Holland HSC runs the CITB site management and supervision courses from two Hampshire venues — Petersfield in the east of the county and Tadley in the north — with the same range at both. Two centres roughly forty miles apart gives most of Hampshire and the neighbouring counties a reachable option without travelling into a city.
Site management — SMSTS
The CITB
Site Management Safety Training Scheme and its two-day refresher at both Petersfield and Tadley. SMSTS is the five-day qualification for site managers and agents, valid for five years, with the refresher required before expiry to keep it current.
Site supervision — SSSTS
SMSTS or SSSTS?
The distinction is the role, not seniority in general. SSSTS is for people supervising a team or a work activity — foremen, gangers, chargehands. SMSTS is for those managing a site or a substantial part of one, with responsibility for planning and the safety management system. If you are unsure, look at whether the person controls the work of a gang or controls the site itself.
Refreshing before expiry
Both certificates last five years, and both refreshers must be completed before the original expires. Let it lapse and you have to sit the full course again — five days for SMSTS rather than two. Diary the expiry date when the certificate arrives rather than when the reminder comes.
Which Hampshire centre?
Petersfield covers east Hampshire and reaches into West Sussex and south Surrey — practical from Portsmouth, Havant, Chichester, Guildford and Haslemere. Tadley covers north Hampshire and the Berkshire border, within reach of Basingstoke, Reading, Newbury, Andover and Winchester. The same courses run at both, so choose on travel time.
