CITB Site Safety, Temporary Works and Building Safety Act Training in Totton, Hampshire

MS Associates runs the CITB Site Safety Plus range from a single centre at Totton, on the edge of the New Forest just west of Southampton. Alongside the site cards sit both temporary works roles, scaffold inspection awareness, and a Building Safety Act awareness course — a combination that suits contractors working on the south coast who would otherwise travel to Portsmouth or Bristol for the specialist subjects.

CITB Site Safety Plus — courses and refreshers
SMSTS and the SMSTS Refresher, SSSTS and the SSSTS Refresher, plus Health and Safety Awareness for the green card route. Both refreshers are here, which matters because that route closes the moment your existing card expires and you then sit the full course again. See all CITB courses.
Temporary works — both roles
CITB Temporary Works Coordinator and Temporary Works Supervisor, both at Totton. The coordinator role is the appointment BS 5975 names and typically sits with a site or project manager; the supervisor role covers implementation on the ground. A site needs the coordinator appointment filled — supervisors support it rather than replace it.
Building Safety Act awareness
Building Safety Act 2022 Awareness, covering the duty holder regime, the gateway process and the golden thread of information. The timing matters: the Building Safety Regulator moved out of the HSE in January 2026, the second staircase requirement for tall residential buildings applies from 30 September 2026, and the Building Safety Levy starts on 1 October 2026. Anyone working on higher-risk buildings is dealing with a regime that has changed materially in the last twelve months, and few centres on the south coast run this at all.
Scaffold inspection awareness
A Scaffold Inspection Awareness course for people who need to carry out or understand basic scaffold inspections — the seven-day statutory inspection, handover checks and what to look for after alteration or bad weather. It is awareness level rather than a CISRS inspector qualification, so it suits site managers checking what is in front of them rather than those signing off complex structures.
First aid, fire and practical short courses
Emergency First Aid, Fire Warden, Manual Handling Awareness and Work at Height, all in the classroom at Totton. These are the one-day courses most employers need somebody to hold rather than everybody — practical, assessed in the room, and quick to arrange around a working week.
Reaching Totton
Totton sits at the head of Southampton Water on the edge of the New Forest, just off the M27 — practical for Southampton, Eastleigh, Romsey, Lymington, Ringwood and Bournemouth, and reachable from Winchester, Salisbury and Portsmouth. For a south coast contractor it removes a long drive for temporary works and Building Safety Act training, which otherwise tend to mean travelling to Bristol or London.
