SAMS

CITB and IOSH Online, Mental Health First Aid and Driver CPC in Ramsgate

SAMS runs the CITB site safety cards and IOSH live online with an instructor, alongside a classroom centre at Ramsgate in Kent carrying the full three-level mental health first aid ladder and Periodic Driver CPC. For employers with people spread across sites the site safety range can be completed without travel, while the practical and assessed courses run in the room.

CITB site safety — all four, live online
SMSTS and the SMSTS Refresher, SSSTS and the SSSTS Refresher — all live online with an instructor. CITB approved remote delivery for Site Safety Plus, so the certificate, card and five-year validity are identical to attending in person. Both refresher routes close once your existing card expires. See all CITB courses.
Mental health first aid — three levels
The FAA ladder in full: Level 1 Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health, Level 2 First Aid for Mental Health, and Level 3 Supervising First Aid for Mental Health, all RQF regulated. Level 1 runs in the classroom at Ramsgate; Levels 2 and 3 run both at Ramsgate and live online. The structure mirrors physical first aid — Level 1 for everyone, Level 2 for designated first aiders, Level 3 for whoever supervises the provision. Browse all mental health courses.
Periodic Driver CPC
Periodic Driver CPC in the classroom at Ramsgate. Professional LGV and PCV drivers need 35 hours of periodic training every five years to keep their Driver Qualification Card, usually taken as seven-hour days spread across the cycle. Missing the deadline means losing the entitlement to drive professionally until it is made up. See all driving courses.
IOSH — two formats
IOSH Managing Safely both live online and as self-paced e-learning, plus IOSH Working Safely live online. Managing Safely is the three-day qualification for anyone supervising people or planning work; Working Safely is the one-day workforce equivalent. Browse all IOSH courses.
Asbestos awareness
UKATA Asbestos Awareness as e-learning — the annual requirement for anyone whose work might disturb asbestos-containing materials in a pre-2000 building. Awareness is one of the few subjects that translates well to self-paced delivery, since it is about recognition and reporting rather than practical skill. It authorises nothing beyond stopping and reporting.
Live online or e-learning?
Live online means an instructor and other delegates at a fixed time, with the chance to ask questions. E-learning is self-paced with no timetable — cheaper and more flexible, but completion depends entirely on your own discipline. For SMSTS and SSSTS only the instructor-led format exists, because the scheme requires it. For IOSH Managing Safely either works, though instructor-led generally produces better completion rates. Mental health first aid and Driver CPC need the classroom or a live session by their nature.
