First Aid and Fire Marshal Training at Eleven Centres Across Scotland

St Andrew's First Aid is Scotland's dedicated first aid charity and has been training people to save lives for over a century. The catalogue here covers workplace first aid at all three levels plus fire marshal training, delivered from eleven centres running the length of the country — from Inverness and Aberdeen down through the central belt to Hamilton. Every course is classroom-based, because the practical assessment is the point.

Emergency First Aid at Work — all eleven centres
EFAW runs at Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Glasgow, Glenrothes, Hamilton, Inverness, Livingston, Perth and Stirling. One day covering the immediate life-saving essentials — unresponsive casualties, CPR, choking, bleeding and shock — and the right level for smaller, lower-hazard workplaces where a needs assessment does not call for full FAW. The certificate lasts three years.
First Aid at Work — all eleven centres
FAW also runs at every centre. Three days, adding injury and illness management to the EFAW content — fractures, burns, head and spinal injuries, and medical conditions such as diabetes, asthma, stroke and anaphylaxis. This is the level a needs assessment points to for higher-risk work, larger headcounts, or sites some distance from emergency services.
First Aid at Work Requalification — six centres
FAWR runs at Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Glenrothes and Stirling. Two days rather than three, and the sensible route for anyone whose FAW certificate is still in date. Miss the expiry and the requalification route closes — you sit the full three-day course again, which is the avoidable cost most employers only notice once it has happened.
Fire Marshal — all eleven centres
Fire Marshal training at every centre, alongside the first aid range. It covers the marshal's role in a sweep and evacuation, extinguisher selection and use, and the fire risk assessment duties an employer carries. EFAW or FAW — which does your workplace need?
The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations do not set a headcount rule. What they require is a first aid needs assessment, and that decides the level and the number of first aiders. Broadly: EFAW suits smaller lower-hazard workplaces, FAW suits higher-risk work, larger sites, or anywhere an ambulance would take a while. Finding your nearest centre
The central belt is covered from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Livingston and Hamilton. Tayside and Fife from Dundee, Perth and Glenrothes. The north east from Aberdeen, and the Highlands from Inverness. Stirling covers the Forth valley. EFAW, FAW and Fire Marshal run at all eleven; requalification is the one to check, since it runs at six.
