CITB Health and Safety Awareness Course Online
This CITB Health and Safety Awareness course is for those who have entered, or are about to enter, the construction and civil engineering industry as a member of the workforce to help them understand the potential hazards that they face at work on site. It aims to provide a practical summary of health and safety, welfare and environmental health and safety issues.
This is an ideal foundation for those wishing to obtain the green CSCS Labourers Card.
The CITB Health and Safety Awareness course provides health and safety awareness and is endorsed by Build UK as standard training for all operatives on site.
Please Note: Delegates under the age of 18 must provide written consent from a parent or guardian to successfully attend.

Online CITB Health & Safety Awareness Course
In addition to our face-to-face courses, we deliver this content through Interactive Video Online Learning, featuring live tutors for an enriched learning experience. This supports those working remotely that wish to achieve their CITB Health and Safety Awareness qualification.
Attendance - Full attendance of the course is mandatory to achieve a pass. Should your internet connection fail during the course for a prolonged period of time, or repeatedly, you may not be able to re-join as requested by the trainer, unless it can be re-established within 5 minutes. This is so general learning is not disturbed for other participants.
Course Publications - the day before your course is due to commence, you will receive an email from our training team containing a link and voucher code to download your copy of the supporting publication for the course - Construction Health and Safety Awareness (GE707). (Please double check your spam or junk folder).
As part of this process you will be required to download a reader app:
- For PCS: Once you follow the link provided on the email, you will be taken to the download screen. This download is approximately 30 MB in size and depending on your internet connection speed could take up to 1 hour to download (typically it takes around 5 mins).
- For Tablets: Download the supporting CITB Health Safety and Environment Publications reader app in your app store (this is free of charge).
Please note: your subscription will last for a defined period of 12 months. During this period the publication will automatically update with any amendments. After 12 months, the publication can still be viewed but there will not be any new updates.
Joining the Video Learning - Our courses are conducted via Zoom, and you will receive your personalised meeting link as part of your course enrolment instructions. We always recommend downloading the App in preparation of the course. Please familiarise yourself with this prior to your course.
HSA Course Aims and Objectives
To ensure the individual responsibilities are understood:
- why they are carrying out their identified roles
- what is expected of them
- how they contribute to the safety of the workplace.
At the end of the day the delegates will be able to:
- understand the need to prevent accidents
- have an understanding of health and safety law
- identify how their role fits into the control and management of the site
- understand the need for risk assessments and method statements
- appreciate the need to perform safely and to stop and ask for advice if not sure
- report unsafe acts to prevent an accident.
Entry requirements
Delegates must be competent in English at operative level. The course content is suited to all ability levels.
Photographic ID will be requested by the tutor at the start of the course i.e. Driving Licence/Passport.
Please be aware that it is a requirement of our Awarding Body - Site Safety Plus (CITB) that ALL delegates attending this course must read and understand English. If you do not think you will have the sufficient English skills in order to the pass the examination please contact us for advice on reasonable adjustments allowed by the Awarding Body.
Learner Numbers
The minimum recommended number of delegates per course is four. The mandatory maximum number of delegates per course is 20. This maximum number is not subject to appeal.

The CITB Health and Safety Awareness (HSA) is part of the Site Safety Plus suite of courses. CITB Site Safety Plus provide a range of courses for people seeking to develop their skills in the building, civil engineering and allied industries. Designed from operative to senior manager level, they provide the skills you need to progress through the construction industry, from the one day Health and Safety Awareness course to the five-day Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).
