One-Day Renewal for Construction Site Supervisors

Course Overview

The CITB SSSTS Refresher renews the Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme certificate in a single classroom day. It updates supervisors on the law as it stands now, reinforces where the supervisor fits into the management of site safety, and goes back over the practical skills of briefing, monitoring and intervening that keep a site under control.

Site supervisors, forepersons and team leaders who hold an SSSTS or SSSTS Refresher certificate and need to renew it, along with construction professionals who supervise site activities and want to bring their knowledge up to date.

Prerequisites

Previous completion of the full SSSTS course and an SSSTS or SSSTS Refresher certificate that is valid on the course date, a copy of which must be supplied in advance. Delegates also need valid photo ID and competence in English at supervisor level.

This course is delivered face to face in a classroom at 27 Campus Five, Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, SG6 2JF, by Safety For Business, a CITB Approved Training Organisation. Letchworth sits just off junction 9 of the A1(M), close to Hitchin, Baldock and Stevenage. Drinks and a cold buffet lunch are provided.

What if my SSSTS certificate has expired?
The refresher is only open to holders of an in-date certificate. If yours has lapsed, or cannot be verified, the full 2-day SSSTS course is required.

How long is the course?
One day, starting at 8:30am.

How long is the renewed certificate valid?
5 years from successful completion.

On successful completion, your certificate is issued by the awarding body or the training provider.

CITB courses: SMSTS, SSSTS and Health and Safety Awareness certificates are issued by CITB and are valid for five years. Complete the matching refresher course before your certificate expires to renew it for another five years. If it lapses, you'll need to retake the full course.

Other courses: fire marshal, manual handling, asbestos awareness, abrasive wheels and ladder courses lead to a certificate of completion. Face fit testing provides a fit test record for each mask tested.
