Course Overview

The City & Guilds 6160 scheme is the water industry standard for confined space training. It was developed with input from every UK water company, so the training is consistent and recognised nationally.

This three-day course is for people working in NC4 high risk confined spaces: non-standard entries and complex operations that bring extra risks and need specific controls and rescue arrangements, such as mechanical hazards or a physically complex system. Full working breathing apparatus is worn throughout, and the course includes the use of self-contained breathing apparatus.

Completing 6160-03 also gives accreditation for the lower risk levels of the scheme.

Who Is It For?

People training to work in the water industry, job seekers, and anyone whose work requires competence in high risk confined spaces. Delegates must be clean shaven so breathing apparatus seals correctly.

Delegates must be medically fit, aged 18 or over, and bring photo ID (a valid UK driving licence, passport or CSCS card). Full body harnesses are worn, and the working-at-height equipment has a safe working load of 136kg.
