IPAF Dual 3a & 3b Operator Course in Salford

The IPAF Operator course covers both category 3a (Mobile Vertical — scissor lifts) and 3b (Mobile Boom — cherry pickers) in a single day, giving delegates the two most widely required MEWP categories on one PAL Card.

It is aimed at anyone who operates mobile elevating work platforms on site, or who is about to. No formal qualifications are required, though delegates should have a reasonable standard of English and be physically able to complete the practical assessment.

Delivery Method

This course is delivered in a physical training venue in Salford, Greater Manchester, M5 5DQ. Saturday courses are available at a weekend rate.

  • MEWP categories and selecting the right machine
  • Hazard identification and site assessment
  • Ground conditions, stability and outriggers
  • Pre-use inspection and machine checks
  • Safe operation of scissor lifts (3a)
  • Safe operation of mobile booms (3b)
  • Harness and fall protection requirements
  • Emergency lowering and rescue planning
  • Theory & Practical Assessments

Certification

Successful delegates receive an IPAF PAL Card valid for five years, covering categories 3a and 3b.
