Course Content

1. Introduction & Legal Responsibilities

• Overview of health and safety regulations (Work at Height Regulations, PUWER, LOLER)
• Responsibilities of employers and employees for safe access and working at height
• PASMA's role in ensuring equipment safety

2. Understanding Low Level Access Equipment

• Types of low-level access equipment (e.g., podium steps, folding towers, room scaffolds)
  
• Design and safe use of these systems
  
• Key features and limitations of low-level access equipment

3. Safe Use & Assembly

• Safe assembly and disassembly of podium steps and folding towers
• Proper handling and use of equipment on various surfaces
• Considerations for working in confined or restricted spaces

4. Inspection & Maintenance

• Pre-use checks and ongoing inspections of low-level access equipment
  
• Identifying faults and damage
  
• Reporting unsafe equipment and the importance of documentation

5. Practical Training

• Hands-on training for assembling and using low-level access equipment
  
• Techniques for safely accessing and using podium steps and room scaffolds
  
• Instructor-led demonstration and feedback

6. Theory Assessment

• Multiple-choice test to assess understanding of course material
