The PASMA Low Level Access course is designed for individuals who need to safely use low-level access equipment, such as podium steps, folding towers, or room scaffolds. Course Content
1. Introduction & Legal Responsibilities
- Overview of health and safety regulations (Work at Height Regulations, PUWER, LOLER)
- Responsibilities of employers and employees for safe access and working at height
- PASMA's role in ensuring equipment safety
2. Understanding Low Level Access Equipment
- Types of low-level access equipment (e.g., podium steps, folding towers, room scaffolds)
- Design and safe use of these systems
- Key features and limitations of low-level access equipment
3. Safe Use & Assembly
- Safe assembly and disassembly of podium steps and folding towers
- Proper handling and use of equipment on various surfaces
- Considerations for working in confined or restricted spaces
4. Inspection & Maintenance
- Pre-use checks and ongoing inspections of low-level access equipment
- Identifying faults and damage
- Reporting unsafe equipment and the importance of documentation
5. Practical Training
- Hands-on training for assembling and using low-level access equipment
- Techniques for safely accessing and using podium steps and room scaffolds
- Instructor-led demonstration and feedback
6. Theory Assessment
- Multiple-choice test to assess understanding of course material
Certification
