The Level 2 Award in Mental Health First Aid Awareness is suitable for those in any sector who wish to develop >a solid understanding of mental health, common conditions, and the key responsibilities of a Mental Health First Aider in the workplace. To successfully complete this course, candidates should be in a role where they are involved, or have the opportunity to be able to be involved, in discussion related to Mental Health First Aid in their workplace. This is a blended learning course, allowing you to work at your own pace and in your own time. Along the way you will be working with the support and guidance of a real human assessor who will be there to encourage you until you complete.
This course is made up of one unit, covering the following areas:
- Understanding what is meant by the term “mental health”
- Understanding common mental health conditions
- Understanding the role of the mental health first aider
- Implementing mental health awareness into the business by creating polices, undertaking a mental health risk assessment & raising awareness within both workforce and the management.
This course has been designed to be as straightforward and accessible as possible. Evidence is gathered through a combination of:
- Submission of real work completed as part of your day-to-day role
- A professional discussion with your assessor to demonstrate your knowledge
- A written Q&A task.
You can begin at any time. Once your registration is complete, your work pack will be issued. During your initial contact or induction, your assessor will explain how to gather evidence and guide you through the workbook and filing system so you feel confident from the outset.
Course Duration
Time scales for completion do vary, however ProQual estimates that the average time spent on this qualification is 20 hours.
