Scaffold Refresher Course in Durham, County Durham
This course enables managers and supervisors to perform their duties relating to the inspection of scaffolds, in compliance with the Work at Height Regulations and TG20. Delegates have only a two-month grace period after their certificate expiry date.
Course Aims
To emphasise the employer's statutory obligation to have competent persons inspect and complete reports on scaffolds in the workplace, and to give delegates practice at inspecting different types of scaffold, fault finding and completing inspection reports.
What You'll Gain
At the end of the course delegates will:
- understand the requirements of the legislation and standards applicable to scaffolding, and the employer's duties and responsibilities
- understand the basic scaffold components and the principles of erection and configuration
- understand traditional tube and fitting TG20 scaffolds
- be able to manage the selection and use of scaffolds
- complete a scaffold inspection to identify faults
- complete an inspection report
Delegates must be able to work at height and must be physically fit to climb ladders and access a scaffold.

Delivery Method
The course is delivered using a mixture of presentation methods, sample components, videos and practical exercises on pre-erected scaffolds.
Assessment
Delegates are expected to identify 100% of the built-in faults on the main scaffolding at the final inspection on the pre-erected scaffold, and to achieve at least 80% in the written knowledge retention test papers.
