CPCS Plant Operator Training in Stewarton, Scotland
Blackwood Training Academy is a CPCS plant centre at Stewarton in Ayrshire, covering the machines most common on civils and groundworks sites — 360 excavators, articulated dump trucks, telehandlers including 360 slew, forward tipping dumpers and ride-on rollers. Practical assessment is on the machine rather than in a classroom.
Excavators and dump trucks
CPCS A59A Excavator 360 above and below 10 tonnes (tracked) — the core groundworks category — and A56B Dump Truck Articulated Chassis for all sizes. Both at novice level with training and assessment on the machine. See all

Telescopic handlers
CPCS A17C Telescopic Handler for all sizes excluding 360 slew, and A77 Telescopic Handler 360º Slew. The slew category is separate because a rotating telehandler behaves quite differently — stability and load charts change with rotation, and an A17 card does not cover it.
Dumpers and rollers
CPCS A31 Ride-on Road Roller, and a combined A09 Forward Tipping Dumper with A31 Ride-on Roller. The combined course is the efficient booking for groundworks operatives who will use both, since taking categories together costs less than returning.
Novice, trained or experienced?
CPCS courses are structured by prior experience. Novice assumes little or none and includes fuller training before assessment. Experienced worker routes are shorter and suit people who have operated the machine for years without a card. Booking novice when you are experienced wastes time and money; booking experienced when you are not usually means failing the assessment.
Covering the west of Scotland
Stewarton is practical for Kilmarnock, Irvine, Ayr, Paisley, East Kilbride and much of Glasgow, and reachable from Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire via the A77 and M77.
