BAF Abrasive Wheels Principles Course for Safe Use and Compliance
The BAF Abrasive Wheels Principles course provides essential training for operators, supervisors and managers who work with abrasive wheel equipment such as angle grinders, disc cutters and bench-mounted machines. Delivered over a half-day session, the course combines structured classroom learning with practical guidance to ensure delegates understand how to use abrasive wheels safely and in accordance with current health and safety legislation.
As the safe use of abrasive wheels is a legal requirement under PUWER regulations, this course focuses on developing awareness of hazards, risks and control measures. Delegates will gain knowledge of key legislation, safe working practices, and how to minimise the risk of accidents in the workplace through correct procedures and equipment handling.
Training includes instructor-led presentations, practical demonstrations and a written assessment. Key topics covered include abrasive wheel selection and inspection, machine safety checks, correct mounting procedures, and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment. The course also explores common risks such as wheel breakage, noise, vibration and respiratory hazards, helping delegates build a strong foundation in safe operation.
There are no formal prerequisites for this course, making it suitable for both new and experienced operators.
