This two-day CITB Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) course is intended for those who have, or are about to acquire, supervisory responsibilities. It provides supervisors with an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, as well as their legal responsibilities relevant to their work activities. It will highlight the requirement to promote Health & Safety to supervise effectively.
This course provides an introduction to health, and safety, welfare and environmental issues, and legal responsibilities relevant to delegates. The course gives attendees valuable assistance in safely supervising construction site activities.
Who is the SSSTS Certificate Suitable For?
This SSSTS certificate is aimed at first line managers, foreman, gangers, team leaders, supervisors and those who have, or are about to acquire supervisory responsibilities. This course prepares individuals for the SMSTS and/or the Supervisor Specialist Skills course.

Course content includes the following:

- Health and safety law
- Developing a health and safety
- Management system
- Occupational health
- Fire prevention and control
- Risk assessments and method statements
- Hazardous substances
- Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
- Working at height
- Personal protective equipment
- Manual handling
- Accidents and first aid
- Students will deliver prepared toolbox talk presentations
Assessment & Certification
You will undergo a short theory test at the end of the course. On successful completion of the course, you will receive a CITB industry recognised certificate which is valid for 5 years.
Please note to remain certified in this area, a SSSTS Refresher (SSSTS-R) course must be undertaken before the 5 year certification expires or a full course will need to completed again.
Prerequisites
There are no formal qualifications required to attend the SSSTS course but we do recommend working knowledge within the construction industry.
