Managing All Forms of Temporary Works on Site

The CITB Temporary Works Co-ordinator Training Course (TWCTC) is a two-day course for people on site who are responsible for managing all forms of temporary works. It is also aimed at senior managers and at those who engage contractors, so that they reach an assessed standard of knowledge of how temporary works should be controlled.

Course Objectives

• Understand the duties of a Temporary Works Co-ordinator and the roles of others
• Gain a detailed knowledge of BS 5975-1:2024
• Understand how to manage risk
• Put the four Cs into practice in the workplace

Course Content

• What temporary works are
• The history of temporary works and the consequences of failure
• Who is involved with temporary works
• Planning temporary works
• Managing the construction, erection and dismantling of temporary works
• Assessment

Assessment

A 45-minute open-book exam selected by CITB, with 18 multiple-choice and 4 free-text questions and a pass mark of 78%. Your course workbook and own notes can be used. All 15 hours must be attended for the Site Safety Plus certificate.

Certification

• CITB Site Safety Plus certificate, valid for 5 years
• Take the one-day TWCTC Refresher before it expires, otherwise the full course must be retaken
• CITB can take up to 8 weeks to issue certificates
