CITB Temporary Works Coordinator Training in Bradford

This 2-day CITB Site Safety Plus scheme is for those responsible for managing, planning, and coordinating temporary works — including Site Managers, Engineers, and appointed Temporary Works Co-ordinators. It provides a clear understanding of BS 5975, covering the legal, procedural, and practical aspects of temporary works management in line with industry best practice. Learners will gain the skills and confidence to reduce risk, ensure compliance, and implement safe systems on site.

What You'll Learn

On this course you’ll build the confidence and competence to manage temporary works safely in line with BS 5975 and your CDM duties. You’ll explore the definition of temporary works, their hazards, and the causes and consequences of failure – including lessons from the Bragg Report and how best practice has evolved.

You’ll gain a clear understanding of:

  • BS 5975 procedures and appointment roles
  • The duties and responsibilities of a Temporary Works Co-ordinator
  • Risk classification, hold points, and permit systems
  • How to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and documentation
  • Your legal responsibilities under CDM 2015 and the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974

Alongside the theory, the course equips you with structured processes like the 3Ps and 4Cs to support decision-making and planning on site. You’ll also have the chance to share experiences with other managers and engineers in a practical, industry-led setting.

By the end, you’ll not only be able to demonstrate compliance and manage risk effectively on complex sites, but also enhance your professional credibility

How Will Delegates Be Assessed?

Assessment on this course is supportive and straightforward. It’s there to confirm your understanding, not to catch you out.

  • During the course – You’ll take part in discussions and activities that help show your understanding as you go.
  • End-of-course quiz – At the end, there’s a short multiple-choice paper. Every question is based on what you’ve already covered during the training. There are no trick questions, and you’ll have plenty of time.
  • Trainer support – The trainer will explain everything clearly before you start, so there are no surprises.

Most delegates find the assessment feels more like a recap of the day than a test and leave feeling confident about what they’ve learned.
