This A17C Telescopic Handler training course (Telehandler training) is for Operators who want to take a CPCS test to gain their Red Trained Operator Card.

Course Content
- Roles and responsibilities.
- Regulations and legislation.
- Undertake all pre-use inspection checks.
- Travel over rough, undulating ground, steep inclines and level surfaces – loaded and unloaded.
- Manoeuvre the Telescopic Handler in confined spaces with or without load.
- Actions required for hazards, underground and overhead services.
- Lift and remove various loads up to full extension and working height of the Telehandler.
- Transfer and place loads accurately at given locations.
- Shut down procedures.
Testing and Further Courses
Theory Test – a verbal test with one to one questions with the tester.
Practical Test – a test including:
- Pre-start and running checks.
- Travel in a loaded and unloaded state.
- Prepare and set the Telehandler for each lift.
- Deposit a load onto the loading out tower.
- Retrieve loads, lower to ground and place at given destinations.
- Park the Telehandler.
- Carry out the shutdown and securing procedures.
You will need to undertake a Health & Safety test within 2 years.
Next step – CPCS blue competence card and NVQ Level 2.
Requirements
A good level of written and spoken English is required to successfully complete this course. If you have any concerns regarding this please contact our office and we discuss available options (e.g. hiring a translator at an additional cost).
What is Awarded After Completion of the Course?
Once the course has been completed candidates will be eligible to receive a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card.
