This online IOSH Safety for Executives & Directors course follows a 1 day programme which has been designed to brief directors and corporate policy makers on the essential health and safety issues that affect organisations of all shapes and sizes today. The course objective is to enable those in senior leadership roles such as executives and directors to contribute to the review of policy, strategies, and where necessary, introduce changes to make their organisation operate more safely.

IOSH Safety for Executives and Directors covers a range of topics including:

  • The moral, legal and financial case for good health and safety practice at work
  • PLAN – Planning for the management of Health and Safety
  • DO – Implementing Health and Safety measures and communication
  • CHECK – Monitoring Health and Safety Performance
  • ACT – Improving Health and Safety Performance

Who is the IOSH Safety for Executives & Directors Course Designed For?

This course is designed for those that are typically employed in a director or senior executive role. Typically this would mean those with operational or strategic accountability for example, owners of small to medium sized organisations, or senior members of governance structures within larger organisations.

There are no health and safety qualification requirements for this course.

Course Content

By the end of the course successful delegates will be able to:

  • Describe the legal, moral and financial role of directors, owners and other senior management including their responsibilities, liabilities and accountability, on both personal and organisational levels.
  • Understand the importance of health and safety at top levels, and how leadership can integrate health and safety objectives into other business objectives.
  • Develop and implement a health and safety policy, then integrate it into the business.
  • Explain the value of well-resourced and efficient health and safety management systems.
  • Understand the values of well trained staff at all levels of the business.
  • Understand the importance of reviewing health and safety policies and management systems, to continually improve them.
  • Value the importance of setting performance targets and indicators to monitor and review.

Assessment

In order to achieve a pass in this course delegates must attend the full day of training and complete the end-of-course personal commitment assessment. The delegate will write up three actions that they will commit to taking in the future. These actions will be designed to improve health and safety performance on an individual level, and indirectly enhance the performance of the organisation as a whole.

Online Assessments

Where permitted by awarding and certificating bodies, we have included assessments within the learning platform. This means that selected qualifications from our range of IOSH e-learning, iAS, NEBOSH e-learning, and Approved Asbestos Awareness e-learning courses are able to be completed fully online.

Our technical support team are based in the UK and can be contacted via telephone and email during UK office hours for any issues or questions about our in-house developed software.

Tutor Support

Our NEBOSH and IOSH courses have expert tutor support available, should you have any issues developing your understanding of part of the course you are able to contact one of our tutors for assistance. Our tutors have been providing NEBOSH and IOSH training courses for over 28 years and are well equipped to help you if you get stuck at any point during your course.

Progress Tracking

All of our health and safety e-learning courses come with inbuilt progress tracking. For short courses like awareness courses, this may be in the form of a percentage bar that shows how far through the course you are, and for longer courses like NEBOSH certificates each unit will have its own progress bar. This allows you to see how much of the learning material you have covered, whether it’s for a 15 minute course, or a 110 hour course.
