ACT Associates

NEBOSH, IOSH and CCNSG at Four Centres, Online or by E-learning

ACT Associates has delivered health and safety training since 1991, and the range spans eight NEBOSH certificates, the full IOSH set, the ECITB CCNSG safety passport and a City & Guilds Level 6 NVQ Diploma. Classroom delivery runs at Stourbridge, Newark, Runcorn and Coventry, and most qualifications are also available live online with an instructor or as self-paced e-learning — several with international availability.

NEBOSH — eight certificates across three formats
The General Certificate runs in the classroom at Stourbridge and Runcorn, live online, and as e-learning, with the International General Certificate by e-learning. The Fire Certificate is available at Stourbridge and Runcorn, live online and by e-learning. Health and Safety Management for Construction runs at Stourbridge and by e-learning. See all NEBOSH courses.
NEBOSH environmental, leadership and specialist awards
The NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate runs at Coventry and live online. The NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Health and Safety Leadership Excellence — developed jointly with the HSE for senior people setting culture rather than managing tasks — runs at Stourbridge and live online. Two further certificates come by e-learning: the HSE Certificate in Managing Stress at Work, and the NEBOSH IIRSM Certificate in Managing Risk, a joint qualification with the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management that few providers carry.
IOSH — workforce to boardroom
IOSH Managing Safely has the widest footprint here — classroom at Stourbridge, Newark and Runcorn, plus live online and e-learning. Working Safely covers the workforce level at Stourbridge, live online and by e-learning. Safety for Executives and Directors addresses the duty carried at board level, at Stourbridge, Runcorn and live online. Browse all IOSH courses.
CCNSG safety passport and Leading a Team Safely
The ECITB CCNSG Safety Passport runs at Stourbridge and Newark, with the Renewal course at both — the shorter route for anyone whose card has not yet expired. Leading a Team Safely (LATS) runs at Stourbridge, and is the supervisor-level addition to the passport. CCNSG is the standard site entry requirement across engineering construction, and the renewal route closes once the card lapses.
City & Guilds Level 6 NVQ Diploma
The City & Guilds NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice, by distance learning. It reaches the same level as a NEBOSH diploma but assesses evidence of what you already do at work rather than examining you, which suits experienced practitioners without a formal qualification. There are no fixed dates because it is portfolio-assessed and starts when you do.
Asbestos and wellbeing
UKATA-approved Asbestos Awareness as e-learning — the annual refresher requirement for anyone whose work could disturb asbestos in a pre-2000 building. A Stress Management course sits alongside it. Stress remains one of the largest causes of working days lost in Great Britain, and the HSE Management Standards place it squarely within an employer's duty.
Which centre?
Stourbridge in the West Midlands carries the widest range and is the base for CCNSG, IOSH and most NEBOSH classroom delivery. Runcorn in Cheshire covers the North West with the General Certificate, Fire Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely and Safety for Executives. Newark in Nottinghamshire runs CCNSG and IOSH Managing Safely for the East Midlands. Coventry carries the Environmental Management Certificate. The range differs by site, so check before travelling — or take the same qualification live online.
E-learning or instructor-led for NEBOSH?
E-learning is cheaper and fits around shifts, but completion rates for long qualifications are consistently lower without a fixed timetable. For the General Certificate, which runs over many weeks, be honest about whether you will sustain independent study. If you have completed self-paced study successfully before, e-learning works well; if you have started and abandoned online courses, the instructor-led format is worth the difference. Exams are booked and sat separately whichever mode you choose.
