The CITB Level 1 Health and Safety package at Gaskell Safety provides essential training for anyone working on construction sites. This course package combines Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment qualification and the CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test to cover fundamental safety practices and legal requirements, setting you up with the certification required for the CSCS Green Labourer Card.

Please note: this package includes the CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test, the fee is included in the course price.

Level 1 Health & Safety in Construction Environment is an approved CSCS qualification for the CSCS Labourer (green) card application. It is CITB approved for employers to claim a CITB Levy Tier 1.

This is an ideal course for those who want to or are working in the construction and civil engineering industry. To show competency on-site and to employers, delegates will need to complete this course and also acquire a CSCS Labourer Card.

The Level 1 Health and Safety package will cover the following topics:

• Health and safety issues to be managed in the construction industry to protect employees, contractors, neighbours, and others
• The basics of local law
• The importance of risk assessments and method statements throughout the development process
• Site requirements for the welfare of construction workers on site
• Hazards and controls associated with construction sites and activities such as working at height and confined spaces
• Site environmental management including management of waste and ecology

Course Entry Requirements

There are no subsidiary requirements for those who attend the Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment.

The delegate must also be able to understand a good level of English. This includes reading, writing, and speaking English.

Photographic ID must be provided on the first day of the course.

The course will start at 8:00 am, failure to attend the course at the correct time and date will result in a failure. Those who attend the course will also need to be present for the entire duration to pass the qualification. Delegates will be removed from the course if the requirements are not met.

Assessment

This one-day package includes a classroom based written assessment of the Level 1 H&S in construction content and an online CITB HS&E touch screen test in our CITB approved test centre to provide you with the certifications required to apply for the CSCS Labourers (green) card.

Certification

Successful completion of the Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment qualification and the CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test will help the applicant to:

• Apply for the CSCS Labourers (green) card
• Access construction sites in the UK
• Understand the basics of Health & Safety
• Identify the right procedures and precautions to take before working on site
