Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (Course Only) in Burton Upon Trent, Staffordshire
This standalone one-day qualification gives construction and civil engineering workers the health and safety fundamentals expected on UK sites. As a CSCS-approved qualification, it forms part of the route to the CSCS Labourer (green) card, and it is CITB approved, allowing employers to claim a CITB Levy Tier 1 grant.

Anyone looking to demonstrate on-site competency to employers will need this qualification together with a CSCS Labourer Card, making it a natural first step for those entering the industry.
What the Day Covers
- Managing the health and safety issues found across the construction industry — protecting employees, contractors, neighbours and others
- An introduction to the relevant law
- Why risk assessments and method statements matter at every stage of a development
- Welfare requirements for construction workers on site
- Site hazards and their controls, including working at height and confined spaces
- Environmental management on site, covering waste and ecology
Course Entry Requirements
No prior qualifications are needed. Delegates do need a good standard of English — reading, writing and speaking — and must bring photographic ID on the day.
Training begins at 8:00 am sharp. Arriving late, or leaving before the end, means the qualification cannot be awarded, and delegates who don't meet these requirements will be removed from the course.
Assessment
A classroom-based written assessment of the Level 1 Health & Safety in construction content is taken at the end of the day.
Certification
Passing this qualification — and separately passing the CITB HS&E test — enables you to:
- Apply for the CSCS Labourers (green) card
- Access construction sites in the UK
- Understand the basics of Health & Safety
- Identify the right procedures and precautions to take before working on site
- Demonstrate the skills, knowledge and understanding employers look for
